
APDS Parenting & Family Development Class
This training is a culturally specific parenting skills enhancement process aimed at helping parents be successful in raising children
.
Goal: Enhance, Empower and Strengthen Families.
Objectives:
- Participating family member will demonstrate negotiation skills by participating in skits.
- Participating family member will demonstrate healthy communication skills by creating two role-playing situations.
- Participating family member will be able to list five of his/her strengths and five qualities he/she need to work on.
- Participant will be able to identify at least three positive child-raising practices related to discipline, nutrition, self-esteem building, accountability and school achievement.
- Participant will demonstrate and acknowledge, accepting responsibility for his/her parental role in their children’s behavior/discipline by citing responses to five identified situations.
- Participant will demonstrate three skills to manage stress by telling a story about overcoming a difficult situation.
APDS PARENTING CLASSES ARE UP TO 15 WEEKS (12- wk. Program) WHICH INCLUDES:
- MINIMUM OF 24 GROUP SESSIONS (2 SESSIONS PER WEEK)
- A MINIMUM OF 4 INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS
- RANDOM DRUG SCREENS (URINALYSIS)
