FESTIVAL OF ART & CULTURE (FESTAC)

What:

FESTAC, Festival of Arts and Culture, is a culturally unique event. FESTAC is a free, daylong, grassroots education and recreation extravaganza, held in the Columbus, Ohio vicinity.

Why:

FESTAC presents a unique opportunity to invigorate community spirit and contribute substantial economic, social and cultural benefit to the Central Ohio community.

How:

FESTAC exists exclusively for educational, 2recreational and community unification. Our mission is to actively preserve the broad spectrum of African/African American heritage and culture by engaging in education, entertainment, and economic activities that will benefit the community as a whole.

Our goals:

  1. To assemble, maintain, and make available to the public, materials and information about the culture and heritage of African and African American people.
  2. To encourage, organize and promote the collective participation of organizations which develop strong family ties, ethnic pride and economic progress
  3. To promote artistic abilities and leadership skills among groups and individuals.

When/Where:

FESTAC is held annually on the last Saturday in September at the Driving Park Community Park located at 1100 Rhoads Avenue, Columbus, from 1:00pm until 7:00pm. This year’s celebration will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009.
