During the summer months between mid-June and the end of August, APDS operates a 10-week summer day camp. APDS Empowerment and Prevention Summer Institute enrollment is limited to 70 youth ages 6 to 12 years (boys and girls). The hours of operation during summer months are 7:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Recreational, educational, cultural, and social emotional learning activities, along with field trips are on the agenda for the summer months. Educationally, APDS uses Ohio State approved educational materials to reinforce what students studied in their last completed grade level before summer. Our social emotional learning is based on The Character Counts national model ( http://charactercounts.org/chron/2010/09/29/cc-week-its-official/ ) endorsed by President Barack Obama and the United States Congress in October 2010. Meals and supplies are included. There is a mandatory one time activity fee of $250 per child for the summer session.
