What is an APDS Community Development Ambassador?
APDS Community Development Ambassadors are citizens like you who decide to commit a portion of their time to serving the community through volunteer opportunities at the Africentric Personal Development Shop, Inc.
What do APDS Community Development Ambassadors do?
There are several volunteer opportunity areas where citizens can get involved:
When do APDS Community Development Ambassadors participate in volunteer opportunities?
Volunteer opportunity dates and lengths of time vary based on each activity. APDS encourages all Community Development Ambassadors commit to volunteering in some capacity for a period of no less than one (1) year at a time and no less than two (2) hours per month during that year. Those who wish to volunteer on a short-term basis will not be turned away.
How can I become an APDS Community Development Ambassador?
Please contact Jerry Saunders or Minette Anderson at 614-253-4448. You may also choose to attend the monthly Community Development Ambassadors meeting, which is held on the third (3rd) Saturday of each month, 9:30am – 11:30am at APDS. Please call prior to attending the meeting. In some cases, rather than meeting, we may be participating in a project outside of the APDS building.
What are the benefits of becoming an APDS Community Development Ambassador?
The benefit to the community and to those who volunteer is truly invaluable. As a Community Development Ambassador, you will have a positive impact on the community, no matter what area in which you choose to volunteer. As requested, volunteers may receive written documentation of any hours served.
