APDS Africentric Freedom From Abusive Relationships (AFAR) Domestic Violence Education Class


Males, Saturdays 10:00a.m. - 2:00p.m.

The AFAR program offered by APDS is certified by the Domestic Abuse Intervention Project of Duluth, Minnesota.  The program is in compliance with Ohio Batterer Intervention Standards to provide domestic violence education classes.  APDS corresponds with the courts, probation and parole personnel, and other organizations in addressing this serious social problem.

The Africentricity:  Freedom from Abusive Relationships also known as AFAR is a program designed to target 60 male batterers annually.

The Treatment process:

  1. Intake and Assessment
  2. Group Session (4 hrs) held once a week up to 22 weeks (18 wks. minimal)
  3. A minimum of four individual sessions for each participant
  4. After Care & Referral Services (as needed basis)
  5. Completion of Customer Satisfaction Survey

  4. Anger Management
  5. Parenting, Family Development
  6. Power and Control Wheel
  7. Tactics of men who batter
  8. Mediation and much more
