APDS Africentric Freedom From Abusive Relationships (AFAR) Domestic Violence Education Classes

Males, Saturdays 10:00a.m. - 2:00p.m.
Males, Tues & Fri 6:00pm - 8:00pm

The AFAR program offered by APDS is modeled after the Domestic Abuse Intervention Project of Duluth, Minnesota.  The program is in compliance with Ohio Batterer Intervention Standards to provide domestic violence education classes.  APDS corresponds with the courts, probation and parole personnel, and other organizations in addressing this serious social problem.

The Africentricity:  Freedom from Abusive Relationships also known as AFAR is a program designed to target 144 male batterers annually.

The Treatment process:

  1. Intake and Assessment
  2. Group Session (4 hrs) held once a week up to 22 weeks (16 wks. minimal)
  3. Group Session (2 hrs) held twice a week up to 22 weeks (16 wks. minimal)
  4. A minimum of four individual sessions for each participant
  5. After Care & Referral Services (as needed basis)
  6. Completion of Customer Satisfaction Survey
