Donald K. Anthony, Jr., Chair

Donald Anthony is president of Warrior Group Inc.  Anthony’s strengths are in understanding the “Power of Vision” and managing relationships.  He has built a career in organizational development based on people skills, business acumen and embracing the nuances that make organizations effective.

Donald earned a Civil Engineering degree at Princeton University and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.  He worked in the IT field for several years at IBM, and then took an entrepreneurial path, focusing on consulting and promotion.  His promotional work includes world class sporting events, national business conferences, economic development summits, and concerts.  Donald is a member of the Fisher School of Business MBA Mentoring Program and the National Black MBA Association, as well as a founding member of the Peter Westbrook Foundation.

Along with his many successful entrepreneurial endeavors, another passion in Donald’s life is fencing.  He was 7 years old when he began fencing at Karamu House in Cleveland, Ohio.  He went on to fence for Princeton University, where he was an Eastern Collegiate Champion and an NCAA Finalist, coached by the legendary Stan Sieja.  From 1982 to 1996, Donald was a member of the US Olympic Squad, a member of two World Championship Teams, and an Individual National Finalist many times.

He went on to serve as Secretary of the United States Fencing Association and Co-Chair of the Arnold Fencing Classic, a showcase event which features World Class and Olympic athletes, in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Sports Festival.  He still competes in age group competitions and won the National Veterans Championship in 2006.



Robert E. Lee, III, Vice Chair

President of Touchstone Hospitality, LLC which provides full service management and consulting services in hospitality, foodservice and facilities management.

The Principals of Touchstone Hospitality combined bring over 80 years of hospitality and food service experience and provide a unique combination of strong hands on operations, asset management and food & beverage expertise. Clients include The Ohio State University and Franklin County Veterans Memorial.

Robert is executive qualified by over 22 years of visible business development and management achievements in the hospitality industry recognized for adeptness in multiple facets of hospitality operations, sales and marketing.

Influential and persuasive leader with a proven track record of consensus building and a keen sensibility for determining customer needs in order to drive revenue and maximize profit potential.

Specialties include Organizational Leadership, Team Building, Entrepreneurial Start-Up Ventures, Relationship Management, Marketing and Branding, New Business Development, Revenue and Profit Maximization, Quality Assurance, Mentoring and Coaching, and Consensus Building.




W. Kay Shabazz, Secretary

Kay specializes in marketing and public relations. A Columbus, Ohio native, Kay earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and Communications from The Ohio State University, and is currently pursuing an MBA at Ohio Dominican’s Dublin campus.  She Manages Event Planning and Membership Support with TechColumbus where she focuses on membership retention, connecting businesses within the community and planning over 120 professional development and networking events during the year. A published author of the book HOLDING ON TO SOMEWHERE; Kay enjoys speaking to community audiences on the subject of family stability and domestic violence. Before joining TechColumbus, Kay had a successful career as Marketing Director for The Martin Luther King Jr. Performing and Cultural Arts Complex.

Kay is high-energy and goal oriented leader who believes community service is a responsibility.  Good communication and cross-industry skills, strong motivator with a passion for diligence, transparency and contagious enthusiasm.  Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with professional and diverse cultural contacts; will always find a way to give a fresh perspective on challenging projects and work within budgets.




David W. Bodiford, CPA, Treasurer

David, an Ohio native, is a 1977 graduate of the University of Akron where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He began his accounting and professional services career in 1978 in Minneapolis with Arthur Andersen. David joined GBQ in 2004 and currently serves as Director of Internal Audit Services. He is a seasoned audit executive with over 25 years of accounting and audit experience.

Prior to joining GBQ, as indicated above, David spent his early years with Arthur Andersen and later five years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in their Risk Management and Internal Audit Services (IAS) practices. Most recently, he spent three years as an Internal Audit Director for Limited Brands. David's industry experience, outside of the professional services arena, 15 years with 'Big Box' retail and distribution companies.

During his career David has built internal audit functions, performed internal audit department 'turnarounds,' and managed a variety of internal audit and business risk assessment reviews. He also has held controllership responsibilities. Currently, as IAS practice leader for GBQ, David is responsible for all aspects of the IAS practice. In this capacity, he specializes in providing business risk and internal control assessment reviews, business process reviews and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

David is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, serves as treasurer for the 100 Black Men of Central Ohio Chapter, and is a member of the University of Akron Advisory Board of the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy.





Akpevwe ‘Apps’ Akpofure

Akpevwe Akpofure, a graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science. Over the past decade Akpevwe has crafted a niche in Coalition driven messaging for political campaigns ranging from local to national candidates. Most notably, Akpevwe worked on Presidential Candidate Senator John McCain’s team in Ohio and last fall was instrumental in U.S. Senator Rob Portman’s campaign. Mr. Akpofure is currently the State Director for Attorney General Mike DeWine.





Cullen Daniel, III, CPA

Auditor at Franklin County Children Services

Cullen Daniel, III, CPA is managing principal for “The Daniel Group”. The Daniel Group is an accounting firm specializing in small companies, fiscal & financial health consultation, not-for-profits and individual tax preparation. He has held accounting and finance positions within several industries over the past twenty-five years. 

Specifically, he was the Assistant Administrator - The Parking Violations Bureau (5 years) and Deputy Treasurer (7 years) with the City of Columbus, Ohio. Also he was Chief Financial Officer for the Columbus Urban League, Inc. and the Columbus Area Community Mental Health Center, Inc. Additionally, he was an Audit and Bank Officer for National City Corporation and Senior Accountant for the public accounting firm of Ernst & Whitney.

Mr. Daniel is originally from Lima, he is the sixth of seven children, a graduate of Lima Senior High School, and he attended the University of Illinois (Champaign / Urbana) on a full football scholarship. He graduated with honors and is a Certified Public Accountant. 

He is affiliated with the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Black Accountants; Municipal Treasurer's Association and was Chairperson for Accounting Careers Awareness Program (ACAP - Ohio) for 6 years. Also he coordinated a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) for 10 years. He is a member of Mt. Vernon Ave. A.M.E. Church where he serves on the Board of Trustees, Tape Ministry, Budget and Finance Committee and Music Ministry.




Shanikka T. Flinn
Director of Media and Communications , Children’s Hunger Alliance

Shanikka T. Flinn is founder of Precise One Marketing, LLC, a marketing, public relations, and event planning company. Since launching the company in 2002, she has provided services locally and nationally to companies, non-profit organizations, and individuals. Shanikka has a well-rounded background possessing over 14 years of marketing and public relations experience. Prior to 2002, she worked in corporate, nonprofit, and advertising arenas, such as Limited Brands, The  Columbus Foundation, and RadiOhio, Inc. (WBNS Radio).

Shanikka received a bachelor of arts degree from Indiana University in 1996.  She is a graduate of United Way of Central Ohio’s Eighth Cycle Project Diversity Program and is a member of the Board of Trustees for Huckleberry House, Inc., and Africentric Personal Development Shop, Inc. (APDS).  She is an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES), PHA, and has volunteered for numerous non-profit organizations, such as The King Arts Complex, United Way of Central Ohio, and the American Cancer Society.  She enjoys the performing arts, theatrical arts, reading, and is a member of Columbus Christian Center.  Shanikka is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, and resides in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.





Usherala Johnson
Attorney at Law


Usherala serves as a current board member of the APDS Board of Trustees. Usherala was born in Mansfield, Ohio and moved to Central Ohio in 1986. She is a mother of two and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Employee Assistance Counseling and a Master’s of Science in Human Services Management from Franklin University.

“I have a Juris Doctorate from Capital University, and my goal is to successfully organize, facilitate and oversee a group home for youth who are not returning to family.”

Dale is President Whitehouse Media Group (WMG), an awarding team of writers and producers who create compelling content to move ideas, tell a story or share information.  WMG’s mission is to produce thought provoking content for broadcast, broadband and new media platforms.
